For the first time in ages, Gavin Lockwood is doing all right. He’s newly sober. He’s writing songs again. He’s about to go on a world tour with his band, Dirtshine, for their best-selling album.
The problem? His record company isn’t happy with his image. It doesn’t matter that these days, he’s squeaky-clean and sober: they want him to date a nice girl with a good reputation. Gavin thinks it might be the dumbest idea he’s ever heard. But after he turns down a good-girl pop star, they issue an ultimatum: find someone, or the tour gets canceled.
Marisol Gomez didn’t mean to trap herself in the alleyway outside a rock concert—how was she supposed to know the door locked automatically? She’s a law student, not a stage manager, and none of this was her idea in the first place. Marisol’s got an important test tomorrow, and she came out here to do some last-minute studying, not argue with some hot, sarcastic British man, no matter how pretty his eyes are.
The next day, she gets a phone call: all her student loans paid off—if she pretends she’s dating Gavin Lockwood for two months.
Marisol’s smart, driven, and gorgeous. Gavin’s barely emerged from the wreckage of his own life. Nothing about them should work, but when things go from public spectacle to private moments, they have to decide: will it be enough?
